News: The most comprehensive up-to-date research on women in politics

Together with KONDA Research, I Choose Association has carried out one of the most comprehensive public opinion surveys ever conducted on women in politics: “The Position and Prospects of Women Politicians in Turkey Survey”.

The results of the survey that is coordinated by Nilden Bayazıt, Assoc. Prof. Özlem Kaygusuz and Prof. Dr. Binnaz Toprak from the I Choose team, were discussed with academics in a workshop on June 4, in İstanbul. Aydın Erdem from KONDA Research, Prof. Dr. Yeşim Arat, Prof. Dr. Serpil Çakır, Asso. Prof. Akça Ataç, Sena Kaleli and Seren Selvin Korkmaz were also partcipated. Binnaz Toprak ve Özlem Kaygusuz commented on the survey’s results together with the participants. In this workshop, the need to evaluate the striking outputs of the "Position and Prospects of Women Politicians in Turkey Survey" with women's rights activists and to ensure that women's political participation is handled more strongly in the women's movement emerged.

Thereupon, the I Choose team held a meeting with activists and non-governmental organizations working on women's human rights on 29 June in İstanbul. Representatives from Global Equality and Inclusion Network, İstanbul Bar’s Women Rights Center, İstanbul City Council, Havle Women’s Association, Social Policy Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation Studies Association, Turkish Industry and Business Association, Women Entrepreneurs Association, Foundation of Higher Institute of Commerce, Association for the Protection of Women’s Rights and bianet participated the meeting. Prof. Serpil Sancar, academic Betül Yarar, Nazan Karacabey from Confederation of Public Employees and Trade Union, feminist-activist Gülnur Elçik and political consultant of I Choose, Hilal Dokuzcan, participated online (via Zoom).

The results of the survey will be published on the website and social media accounts of the I Choose Association as of summer 2022.
